冬至 2009





[1]左。姜汤 / 右。芝麻糊 [2-3]汤圆也疯狂

从开始写部落格起,
每年的冬至我都会贴上自己做的汤圆 (照片)

去年
突发奇想,我要做点不一样的
学包有馅的汤圆,好像不错

结果是。。。。没学成

我想
学不会把芝麻包在汤圆里
我就把它煮在“ 外面” 吧

这是前一阵子学芝麻糊的原因

hm....明年我要玩什么花样呢?

老实说
我不爱吃甜食
也不爱吃汤圆=)
不过
我很享受烹煮的过程

早晨!香港





今早和老妈饮茶,说起明年她想和妹妹再去香港买东西,吃东西的计划。哈~~突然想念起那间在老街坊里 ,很不起眼的茶餐厅。里面的食物很道地。

那里的油条是我吃过,最最最好吃的。香脆可口,油而不腻。。。。。从来没在新加坡吃过那么好吃的油条。

在香港的五天,我们就光顾了三天。在我们分头行事 的一晚,爸妈又自己去那里吃了一顿他们赞不绝口的夜宵。为什么没叫我们??[他们吃得不亦乐乎时,我们正在饿着肚子。。。瞎拼 = P ]

常觉得看起来越简单的料理,其实越难烹调。简简单单的早点,还是可以煮出可以让食客吃得很幸福的味道。

那三天吃了超正点的白粥油条的我,觉得自己很幸福。哈

法式 [烧焦] 烤面包



可爱的笔心昨天给我留言
说是因为闻到一股法式烧焦味
所以特地来探望我的。

哈哈~

其实 应该闻不到什么烧焦味的

因为technically
那两个面包没有“很” 烤焦

我忘了一个很重要的法则
油炸的食物在捞起后的几秒钟
还是会继续被热油“慢煮”的

所以一定要在食物变成金黄色之前捞起,
否则就会象照片里的一样,
惨不忍睹

还是能吃
只是卖象不好而已。

法式料理 (乱来的)





昨天看了Julie & Julia, 就很有冲动做一道很简单的法式料理。(依样画葫芦的)

今早晨运后就到湿巴刹去,买了两粒番茄和一个刚刚出炉,香喷喷的尖头面包。真的很香。。。(朋友建议买Romanian tomato,因为它们比较甜。)

这个法式料理很简单。只需要把切好的尖头面包放在涂了butter的平底锅上烤至金黄就可以了。(这个recipe一定要用butter, margarine不好吃哦。) 最后,放上之前准备的番茄(切丁番茄+橄榄油+parsley)就大功告成了。BON APPETIT

觉得自己好象在班门弄斧的。。。哈~~

Homemade Truffles


Was trying out this Chocolate Truffles recipe from 8 Days. Gosh, it was a mess and looking really ugly. But I have fun. =P It was made out of 80% dark chocolate, so it was really bitter. I bet it will goes well with black coffee. Will pop one tomorrow morning with my black coffee.

Do you know that eating chocolate will make you happy? It is supposed to release the same chemicals that are released when you are in love. The darker, the better. hahaha I must be the happiest person right now.

皮蛋也花心 =P


其实是念 [ 松花溏心皮蛋 ]** 。卖皮蛋的阿姨把它赞得"天上有,地下无的" 。 加上有好长一段时间没吃凉拌菜,便买回一盒试一式。


皮蛋拌豆腐
这是一道中国凉菜。完全不用煮,原汁原味。因为是一时兴起,所以材料没有齐全。少了青红辣椒。样子看起来没有很可口。不过喜欢吃青葱和蒜的朋友应该会喜欢这一道菜。

至于那溏心皮蛋,我还是比较喜欢吃巴刹卖的。皮蛋的味道比较浓郁。记忆里在台湾吃的皮蛋小菜也是超赞的。hm.....也许所有标上健康的食品,味道都比较淡吧。

海南肉粽



这是我家的海南肉粽。
和外面卖的肉粽最大的不同就是里面包了鱿鱼。很有嚼劲。每年我总会带几粒给同事吃。去年,和阿姨拜师学艺可是包得实在太难看了,今年没有在包。哈哈~ ~不过, 我觉得传统手艺应该好好学习并传承下去的。Maybe next year. =D

细数数, 到现在为止我已吃了 ;
- 4 粒海南肉粽
- 和家人共享了1粒印度肉粽/1粒Rendang 肉粽 /1 粒Thai curry 肉粽。(Thai curry肉粽 是好吃的咯 。)
- 1 粒斋粽

同事说斋粽沾kaya很好吃,我比较想把它放进椰浆里。

现在什么新奇的口味都有。有意思。哈哈

夜访福康宁




福康宁公园给老友ciie庆生。在晚上野餐,大概只有我们这一群疯子。哈哈~~

我们的夜间野餐有:
- Tea light candles
- red wine + wine glasses
- finger foods
- salad
- balloons
- Birthday cake
- a pot of sun flowers
- camera + tripod
- Insect repellent
- Mosquito coils
- Moon light
- Ants........vicious ants

ps : To those who want to romancing @ fort canning , please bring along a can of insecticide. There are a lot of ants there. A LOTs!

葱油饼spring onion pancake?





不久前,在 [毛宝]打印了葱油饼的食谱。今早终于试煮了。哈哈~ 还是花莲的好吃。我没那种功力。谢谢所有白老鼠帮我试吃。=)

This is supposed to be roti prata 's Taiwanese version. I ate it once at a roadside stall in Taiwan, Hualian . It was strongly recommended by our taxi driver . Its tasted really good. Sinful but delicious. =) The filling was spring onion ( my favourite). I sprinkled in chilli flakes which I bought from Yunnan. It was great, though, I still yet to master the thickness of the crust. =)

Oh....thanks to all my guinea pigs, who so willingly tried. How I love guinea pigs......they are so round and cute and "innocent". Lovely. =D

Crispies



Came upon this recipe while doing research for an upcoming project. This is an activity for early primary school kids and they are supposed to learn that a lot of their food source came from our rainforest.
Well, I decided to give it a try. It must be really easy since it is for kid, right? I cannot be more wrong. haha. It still looked quite ok from the pix but everything fell apart once you try to pick it up. We ended up eating honey cereals + chocolate chips in bit and pieces. Later I found out that, the mixture still need to be heated up before cooling it in the fridge.
I wonder what would happen when a teacher decide to try it out with her/ his students. Hate to see their disappointing face when it doesnt turn out as it should. But perhaps kids will have fun anyway. After all , its the preparation and mixing process that are most fun. =P
